Fuel Theft and Mileage Manipulation Methods

Fuel Theft and Mileage Manipulation Methods

If your car is not equipped with a GPS monitoring system, or your truck does not have GPS monitoring with fuel control, then the following information may be very relevant to you.

Speedometer Disconnection

If a driver needs to use the vehicle and doesn't want you to know about it, they will disconnect the speedometer. Mechanical or electronic speedometers can be disconnected within 45 seconds. We know of many cases where drivers use expensive company cars at night or on weekends for taxi services or wedding transportation. In addition to unauthorized use, it's also important to consider that service maintenance is not performed according to schedule. Untimely vehicle maintenance, such as oil and filter changes, can lead to faster engine wear and breakdown.

Solution from "MOBINET" company. By installing a GPS tracker AT-01 (budget-friendly) or AT-68 (professional) on a vehicle, you can know its exact location at any time of day, from anywhere in the world. Even if the driver disconnects the speedometer, the GPS system will accurately show the vehicle's mileage. If engine blocking is connected, you can block the engine at your discretion, and no one but you will be able to unblock it.

Fuel Siphoning from the Tank

The most common way to "take" saved fuel for personal use is to siphon it from the tank. While theoretically possible to set a precise fuel consumption norm for trucks, practically accounting for all factors (load tonnage, headwind/tailwind, uphill/downhill travel, etc.) becomes impossible. As a result, drivers always end up with their own "surplus" in the fuel tank. Siphoned fuel is not difficult to sell; there are "buy diesel fuel" points on almost any highway. Or it can be used for their own vehicle. A good example is that most drivers working on trucks also own personal diesel-powered vehicles.

Solution from "MOBINET" company. A GPS system with fuel control is installed on the vehicle. Every attempt by the driver to siphon fuel will be visible to the vehicle owner. Using our system, you can receive reports on refuels, siphoning, and fuel consumption. Our system records even the smallest (1-3 liters) fuel siphons.

Buying Fuel Receipts or Zeroing Out the Card

Fuel savings during freight transportation occur for any driver, unless they intentionally overburn it. Recently, drivers have widely adopted the practice of buying fuel receipts at gas stations. It's certainly easier not to refuel and receive your share in cash than to siphon it from the tank. If the tank siphoning scheme is practiced, the driver needs to carry a jerry can, a hose, and get dirty with diesel fuel. It's much more convenient to stop at the desired gas station, buy receipts or "zero out" their card for a small percentage to the gas station operator.

Solution from "MOBINET" company. A GPS system with a fuel level sensor will always show the location, time, and volume of refueling. Accordingly, if the driver intended to withdraw 300 liters from the card but only refueled 250 liters, our system will show a refueling of 250 liters.
